What is your Saturday like noise folks.. especially  free jamz phych folks in the PNW>... I will drive ANYWHERE tomorrow to do an all day Saturday recording   then I will place together a series of very small run of as many tapes as we can make. 

I HAVE TO GET OUT OF PORTLAND. So its like a 2 day adventure the northwest and record as much as possible this weekend with as many folks as people.....who wants to get all witchy/ ritualistic/ bloody/ sexy/ crazy and break free from all of societies norms this weekend ???

KEY:: I would prefer to play with as many female musicians as I can. Also: multi-instrumentalists is awesome even if one is synth and one is junk metal , or one is just floor toms and the other is field recordings and tape ageing/manipulation. ALL WOULD BE VERY OPEN TO JOIN IN.

I despise that I cannot see it enough. EVER. I am a very ugly, strange, white, longhaired, dirty, shitty tattoos, passionate, loving, <what most deem us I guess is crusty-hippies????> musician and crafter of physical media and believe in physical media with all my heart. Namely that thinks mostly about tape and tone textures.

I am literally dieing not being a part of a very special/ sacred/ loving/ weird/ fucking living in the truth 100% of the time people to form a community around my total vision I can see right now.

Its been a long dream, but I've been to much of a loner for that......NOW, I am ready.

I already do my own solo drone/ ambient/ occultic/ ritual/ noise project...all and only cassette tapes and I run a little micro-label of which I want to release all this from. I am growing in my contacts from around the world and want to experience more with others....playing that is....I want to start tomorrow I am that serious...... I want to pair my alone work with an improv collective so badly like asap. When I am ready, I am ready.

Hey friends....still working up my new brews to release upon the outsider of the outsiders..(gonna have a summer package deal of multiple releases here very soon) ..  hang in there..... One quick note....when I can and hopefully soon almost 99% of my communication with outside world is moving here to focus as Shrouded Recordings grows.......SBTDOH is not at all the same thing as S. R. or S. R. Z.   but it is the same dude..... But I am gonna pull back from bandcamp and most things and try to deal directly with anyone who wants anything.   hopefully making it more of a postivie ideal experience with interactions and other rad stuff.

some very important and awesome changes are coming very soon to shrouded recordings.  very excited for the summer releases and what the reorganization process is shaping up with the council of 48. Once a verdict is handed down, actions will be taken.

why make tapes?

So I posted this on a form topic about different types of releases....mostly an anti-tape thread.... I like my response so I decided to post it because I believe this is an important issue. I would love to dialog with any thoughtful person on this...

good cassettes are like life. if there is deterioration from use. that to me is a good thing. (it shows love and a tape worth investing yourself in for hours/days)  plus the degrading may have been started by the artist who never 'wanted' it to sound digital (more perfect lets say...) at all....

 I like the sounds that are crumbling apart just like this world and life as you get older. So sometimes you buy 2 copies and don't open one? (just an option to preserve a tape for many years with no deterioration??)

 I will die and my son will most likely get my collection of music which is a gigantically variations of records, tapes and cds. I want to get the music and I do prefer tapes now a days, I will get whatever is available. Music is the only thing I have spent money on since grade school *25 or so years??...

And as a producer of tapes only and as I run a zine that only has cassette tape reviews currently, I am allowed access to such more music based on a low income. Also, I get to hear lo-fi music from around the world on very small runs. Somehow a cd or cdr never gives any great feelings like they do.

And running a cassette tape only label is fun. I can do it without massive debt. I can also have creative control over everything. And some recordings you would never want to hear 'digitally,' they massively loose their charm.

Sure it would be rad to only put out vinyl. But that is not economically feasible and would just make it hard to get a tiny labels music 'out there' both for label and artist. I used to be a huge vinyl guy. But has become so hard for someone on a 'musicians' budget, or someone who does not make enough to spent $200- $300 on records every paycheck....

 But there is so much music I only want to hear from the artist by ordering their tape, rather than listening to on bandcamp. or any other digital option. (and I give away all the digital copies for this reason, I only charge for a tape because I spend a lot of time producing the whole release, music, art, what kind of packaging etc...

Just some thoughts. I admire your passion. that is great sometimes it just comes down to economics......again.

take care passing on your treasures to your children. It is really a beautiful process. I am sitting here blasting obscure BM while my 11 year old son sits next to me and loves it with me.,,,

for me that is amazing to feel. regardless of how produced physically. The more important matter is the love for this music!!!
